A couple of months ago, my hubby and I had "The Talk." He had been doing the math, and if we wanted to retire and have our kids out of the nest at a reasonable age, it was time we started cooking. We decided, we weren't going to try per say, but we weren't going to prevent it either. So thus "Not not trying." Life as we knew it was going to change.
Well me, being me, I couldn't keep my mouth shut about it, atleast to people around me. So my co-workers/new found friends were in on the secret. Durring the first month of "Not not trying," S&J, the two mommies of the group had some great laughs on my behalf.
It was an understatement at that moment to say that I had come to grips with the life changing decision that we had made. Yes, we have everything that is necessary: Happily married-check, Jobs-check, House-check, Puppy-check. We followed the usual steps BUT life will be SOOO different! Was I REALLY ready for that????
My internal battle, was somewhat evident so they liked to play games with me. Are you feeling this, what about that? You seem to be peeing a lot...On and on... until I was in serious panic mode. Which was hilarious those around me.
Luckily, the first month was a no-go. Much to my relief. I had another month to get used to get used to the idea. My grip on the situation was improving but I was still definitely freaking out when the next Sunday came along... without its slated monthly visitor.
S had been timing things out for me. Before I left for the big family reunion weekend I could take "a test." I dutifully peed on the stick first thing Wednesday morning before we left. No obvious signs of a pink line in the designated time frame. I was safe... or so i though. When we came back that Sunday and nothing had happened I reasoned with myself that my body was having trouble getting back into the swing of things on its own. Just one more day and it would be here. Tuesday morning I pulled out another box again & took "the test" again.
Low and behold, there is was a faint second pink line. I thought about texting S right then BUT it was only 4:30 in the morning AND the line WAS very faint... Right? I took another to work just in case.
First thing I said when I saw S in the morning was "How pink is pink?" Her reply. " Pink is PINK! You are soooo pregnant!" Once P got in we made a detour from our regularly scheduled Breakfast Club and made a detour to the bathroom. It took no longer than me walking out of the stall for the line to begin to appear... It was official. I was knocked up. Every one around me was ecstatic. I was a knocked up deer, standing in headlights.
I told my hubby that night, well, showed him... I laid the tests (including the original Wednesday test, which surprise! had the faintest of faint lines on it. Good thing I hadn't noticed before I had been surrounded by family with NO time to process!) and waited for him to come downstairs. What's his reaction...? "You're Pregnant? So when are we going to tell people so my dad will stop bothering me?"
Despite the fact that is was early, we began to spread the word. Each new person excited for both of us. Me = 25% freaking out+25% scared+50% excited. It was a good thing I had a lot of really supportive people around me to help out!
I am soooo excited for you guys! I have been waiting forever to experience this with you! I can't wait to hear about ever event... every experience... every freak out! I love you Krissy +one! Auntie Krissy is going to be a MOMMY! :)
